Kauai: the Garden Isle

Everything you can imagine about Hawaii being dramatic and beautiful is in Kauai. It is the real Hawaii. Not that the others aren’t, but this one feels like the old world.

Lots of the island is jungle and lush. Very little has been turned over to the tourists. Everyone knows everyone, every shore feels like the North Shore. This means it feels like one big neighborhood. Everything is relaxed. Everything is local. I revel in the feeling of being a part of something so old and valued. Tradition is still alive there; protected. You can feel it in the air, land, and water. Take a breath and breathe it all in.

Gracious for my time there and to experience something I hid there for my to find again.

5 years later im on the same trail remembering what I learned. How special, it all feels so good.

I told you I’ve been here before..I actually forgot about this until I saw the bamboo. I remembered instantly and saw many had lost their bark. I kept looking around and it was sitting perfectly archived for me. I felt like I had traveled in time and sent myself a message. Hawaii will always be a special place to me, one where I didn’t need anyone else to appreciate it all.

Last day you’ve gotta find a sunset. Wish I didn’t pick the crowded touristy one but what else could I do. Enjoy despite it all. I’m a tourist too, why am I complaining.
